You Don’t Remember Those Things is an artist’s book, combining photographs of Joe Wilson’s family and extracts taken from interviews with them.

The work seeks to document how the traumatic event Wilson suffered as a child impacted those around him.

Wilson had never discussed the impact of the accident with his family beforehand, and many of them hadn’t even verbalised the impact of the accident at all.

Throughout the project, Wilson found that the process was cathartic for both parties involved and that the creation of the book was able to bring closure to both Wilson and his loved ones.
